About the Marda Loop BRZ
Since its start in 1984, the Marda Loop BR has been managed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of a group of local merchants who generously volunteer their time for a one year term. The board works together to improve, develop and beautify the property within the zone and promote it as a safe and culturally vibrant area.
The Marda Loop BRZ also produces the Marda Gras Street Festival which takes place on the second Sunday in August each year. This New Orleans themed, family-friendly festival embraces the culture, cuisine and music of New Orleans for one full day along 33rd and 34th Avenues SW East of Crowchild Trail between 21st and 19th Streets SW. THANKS MARDA LOOP FOR HELPING US RAISE FUNDS FOR THE CHILDREN'S WISH FOUNDATION
Over the past several months the Marda Loop BRZ has raised funds and awareness for the Children's Wish Foundation. Initiatives have included a Marda Gras Masquerade Party, donation boxes at several of the Marda Loop businesses, and fund-raising at the 2010 Marda Gras Street Festival. To-date a total of $4,062.67 has been raised to help a children's wish come true!
